A pyramid made of 34,592 bricks containing the ashes of dead people is being built in Toxteth.
The unexpected construction is the latest antic of The KLF's Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, going by the name of K2 Plant Hire Ltd.
The first 240 bricks of the "People's Pyramid" are being laid on what Drummond is calling "Toxteth Day of the Dead" - Friday, November 23, 2018.
They will be placed on a foundation stone of locally-quarried sandstone, measuring 3ft x 3ft x 4in.
To gain entry to see the structure, which will be inside Toxteth Town Hall, visitors will have to comply with a list of quirky terms and conditions, which include taking along an empty supermarket trolley.
Drummond and Cauty are well known for eccentric acts - most famously for setting fire to £1m in cash on a remote Scottish island back in 1994.
Last year, he brought Welcome to the Dark Ages to Liverpool - a 72-hour event during which volunteers were given a list of bizarre tasks to follow.
How to gain entry
Toxteth Town Hall will be open to the public from 12-9pm on Friday, November 2018.
The rules state that in order to gain entrance, members of the public "must present security staff with one full sized supermarket shopping trolley. The shopping trolley is non-returnable".
However, the entry fee is waived if you live within the L8 postcode.
How to get your ashes in a brick
According to K2 Plant Hire Ltd, 23g of an individual's ashes are fired in a brick in a process called "MuMufication" - a reference to the duo's original name "The Justifed Ancients of Mu Mu" - creating "Bricks of Mu".
To become part of the pyramid, you can buy an unfired brick now in preparation for your own death.
The information states that MuMufication usually costs £99 per person, but as Toxteth Day of the Dead falls on Black Friday. L8 residents aged 80 or over can buy a brick for 99p, and L8 residents aged 23 or over can purchase MuMufocation for £9.99.
Every year, on the same date, the previous year's bricks will be added to the pyramid.
Who is K2 Plant Hire Ltd?
It's the name, Bill Drummond and Wirral-born Jimmy Cauty are using to create the People's Pyramid.
As The KLF, the duo was 1991's biggest selling singles act in the world with their personal brand of sample-heavy electronic pop.
Drummond, who was born in South Africa and grew up in Scotland, moved to Liverpool and worked at the Everyman Theatre in the 1970s, where he designed stage sets for Ken Campbell's Science Fiction Theatre of Liverpool.
His musical career began when he joined 70s Liverpool band Big in Japan with Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Holly Johnson, Jayne Casey and the Lightning Seeds' Ian Broudie.
