Witches, ghosts, zombies, vampires and aliens reported to North Wales Police

Via dailypost.co.uk by Steve Bagnall

Witches, ghosts, zombies, vampires and aliens were all reported to North Wales Police in recent years.

There may be no Mulder and Scully on the force, but officers have handled nearly 60 calls relating to supernatural or extraterrestrial events in the last five years, a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

Despite reports of aliens committing theft and zombies wandering North Wales, however, residents can rest assured that, according to the FOI response, there have been no reports of werewolves in the past five years.

The largest number of calls to the police were about aliens, with 22 reports between 2010 and 2015.

One caller from Bethesda alleged that an alien had committed a theft while, in Llandudno Junction in 2013, another claimed an alien was linked to a missing person.

Reports of ghostly goings-on accounted for another 21 calls to police, and came from towns and villages across North Wales including Wrexham, Bangor, Llandudno Junction, Denbigh, Shotton, Old Colwyn, Flint, Holyhead, Rhyl, Pensarn and Dolgellau.

The force received 10 calls about witches, two about vampires and two about zombies.

In total, the police were called 57 times in connection with paranormal or extraterrestrial events and attended to 38 of the reports, showing in most instances that they were concerned for the people involved.

On other occasions, they attended to check if there were any suspicious circumstances surrounding the reported incident.

In other cases, mental health issues were cited as the reason for the call and officers were not dispatched.

Police offered advice to the callers on some occasions and, during two incidents, they were asked to assist another agency to deal with the situation.

Paul Rowland, who investigates ghosts and the spirit world, said: “I investigate using equipment and technology to try and gain a record of any phenomena.

“In my experience, I have never been in a situation where I felt that I needed to walk away. Spirits are the energy of people who have moved on.

“My advice to people who believe they may be the subject of a spirit trying to make themselves known is to remain calm - being negative will not help - and to speak strongly in their minds, ‘No, I’m not comfortable with this’, and then try and contact somebody like myself or a respected spiritual adviser.

“I would not suggest going down the church exorcism route.

“The police will only respond if they feel somebody is in mortal danger.”

In 2011, the Daily Post reported that police had received 41 reports of the supernatural in previous years, with one distressed caller telling officers they were possessed by a ghost, and another that they believed they were a vampire.

Nine people had called 999 to report ghosts in their house, while five reported witches and one claimed to be sharing their home with a vampire.
