Pell City’s own paranormal investigation team is asking local residents a serious question: how would you like to join a real ghost hunt?
This month, the Central Alabama Society for Paranormal Investigation and Research, or CASPIR, is conducting a raffle to raise money for new equipment. Four random winners will be invited to take part in a hands-on investigation with the team, diving deep into the former UAB Center for Medical Professionals, a rehabilitation facility and asylum in Chelsea that was abandoned years ago.
CASPIR Founder and Director Frank Lee said the team selected this site to investigate with raffle winners because activity is often reported there. Lee said other investigators have reported hearing disembodied voices and phantom footsteps, witnessing objects being moved and doors opening and closing by themselves, and feeling unexplained cold spots.
The winners of this raffle and a guest of their choice will be invited to join the team for what Lee called an educational and adventurous night.

“You will be using equipment such as electromagnetic field detectors (EMF), laser grids, digital audio recorders, electronic communication (ITC) devices, video cameras, and still imaging devices to document the investigation,” he said in a release. “Afterwards, you will be participating in review of the findings with the command center to examine the results of the investigation.”
Lee said CASPIR doesn’t charge its clients for investigations, and all equipment used by the team is paid for out of members’ pockets. However, demand for their services is increasing, he said, and CASPIR is seeking to upgrade its current equipment and buy new pieces in order to run multiple investigations simultaneously.
Ticket prices are $2 each or 3 for $5. Tickets can be purchased directly from any of the team members — Frank Lee, Donald Davis, Jennifer Davis, Pink Floyd, Dee Harper or Andie Nolan. Tickets can also be purchased by email or phone at caspir.paranormal@gmail.com or (205) 201-1171.
