Ghostly 'black-robed monk' spotted

This spine-chilling picture appears to show the ghost of a black-cloaked monk skulking in a castle in North Wales.

The photo was taken by clairvoyant Christine Hamlett while on a visit to the spooky medieval building in Harlech in October last year.

The 57-year-old medium believes there is no other explanation for the haunting dark shapes in the image, reports the Daily Post.

She said: “That one was taken when I was just snapping around and when I looked at it I couldn’t believe what was there.

“I didn’t notice anything at the time, but I was looking at it recently and I said to my husband ‘What’s that in the window?’

“It looks like it’s wearing a monk’s robe. It was a cold day so there weren’t many people about and I don’t know why someone would hang out of a window anyway.”

Christine, who lives in Northwich, Cheshire, said she was unsure whether the castle had any historic links to monks.

However, one explanation could be its close proximity to Cymer Abbey which was inhabited by Cistercian monks.

It was also not the only ghostly experience she had while holidaying in North Wales.

She said: “When we were in the caravan at Tal-y-Bont we kept hearing someone walking around at night, so we took a picture and a white figure showed up.

“They (spirits) tend to follow me about so it’s not unusual.”

However, one of the most disturbing cases Christine has dealt with came in north east Wales.

“One of the worst ones I’ve ever had was in Wrexham. There was the ghost of a man in the house scaring the children and it was so bad that the family was living in the garden.”

She has also been involved in investigating the recent black-eyed child paranormal phenomenon, which has been making national headlines.

Her husband David captured an image of what she claims in one of the ghostly children in Hanley near Stoke.

Tasked with bringing troubled souls back to the afterlife, Christine usually uses a pan and water technique using reflections to capture spirits on camera.

She said: “I’ve been taking ITC [instrumental transcommunication] photos and there were a lot of black-eyed faces coming up.

“I’ve tried to get the children into the light, but they’re refusing to go as they want their story told.”
