The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has tried to assure Americans that the country is not facing a threat from zombies, but this was probably little comfort for the North Miami Beach police officer who a homeless man threatened to “eat” over the weekend.
Arrest reports obtained by NBC Miami showed that 21-year-old Brandon De Leon was arrested on Saturday on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest with violence.
De Leon reportedly began slamming his head against the squad car’s plexiglass divider while being taken to the police station.
“I’m going to eat you!” the man screamed at one officer.
The report claimed that the suspect later “launched to bite” an officer while acting like an animal.
“Brandon growled and opened and closed his jaw, slamming his teeth like an animal would,” the report said, adding that he also barked and growled from inside his cell.
At a bond hearing De Leon told the judge that he had “no recollection of anything that happened that night.”
Blood tests taken the night of the incident revealed that the man had a blood-alcohol level of .29, as well as cannabis and Xanax in his system. Authorities also claimed he was under the influence of a type of synthetic marijuana called Cloud 9 or Mephedrone, a psychoactive drug that also has a stimulant effect similar to ecstasy.
Authorities are on high alert for zombie-like attacks after a Miami man recently was shot to death by police because he allegedly ate the face of a homeless man while on drugs.
“This bears resemblance to the incident that occurred in the City of Miami last week when a male ate another man’s face,” North Miami Beach administrators wrote to all of their police force in a “Officer Safety” email obtained by WPTV.
