Author's Eerie 'Heather' Experience is a Head Scratcher

Via coasttocoastam.com by Tim Binnall

An author on Twitter recently recounted a strange series of events in her life which culminated in an absolutely amazing revelation that is truly a head scratcher. "I am about to share the weirdest tale I’ve ever experienced, even by my high bar of weird," declared Summer Heacock at the start of the riveting story. She began by explaining that, since childhood, people have continually called her 'Heather' by mistake and that the misidentification has occurred "at least once a week" throughout her life.

According to her, the error has been made by both strangers as well as people who ought to know better like her doctor and even her husband. To that end, lest one think that this is somehow connected to her last name, she was quick to note that the weird mistake has been happening since long before she got married and took 'Heacock' as her last name. The 'Heathering,' as she called it, had "been a running joke for years" among her friends, until a seemingly unrelated event in her life cast the confusion in a confounding light.

Heacock explained that she had been adopted shortly after being born, but spent six weeks beforehand at a place that cared for infants prior to their adoption. During that interim period, she was "given a random name," which was subsequently forgotten when she was renamed 'Summer' by her new parents. This led her to wryly muse over the years that her perhaps 'lost' name had been 'Heather,' since everyone kept calling her that.

Attempts in the past by Heacock to find answers about her adoption proved futile as the documents were sealed. However, a few weeks ago, she was contacted on social media by her biological family who had tracked her down after three years of searching. A joyous reunion followed shortly thereafter and, during the get together, Heacock asked her newfound siblings if they knew what her 'lost' name had been. Their answer, as you may have guessed by now, was 'Heather.'

Skeptical readers may be rolling their eyes at the epic tale, but Heacock insisted that "I wouldn't even share it if there weren't many, many witnesses and legal documents that verify. It's that surreal." To that end, adding another eerie twist to the story, she noted that her biological family had found her after unearthing her original birth certificate. And, yes, her birth name on the document was 'Heather.'
