A This Morning animal psychic was derided by viewers today after he admitted he couldn't actually talk to dead pets.
Gordon Smith, who was billed as a man who can communicate with animals in the afterlife, confessed he could actually only see them, rather than talk to them.
He got a confused glance from Phillip Schofield when he answered "I wish" when asked if he could actually talk to dead pets.
Gordon said he was "not allowed" to do a live reading and viewers claimed Gordon had been exposed as a 'fraud' after his car crash TV performance.
The medium discovered he could contact the afterlife aged just 6, when he had an encounter with his parents' dead friend in the garden.
Phillip asked: “So animals, when you contact these animals do they speak to you?"
Gordan replied: "I wish - no. As a medium not even our loved ones speak when they come through. You may get a sense of a person, their height, who they lived, when they died.
"Animals are similar. I sense a cat then all of a sudden I see a Siamese cat jump up."
Phil asked if he could communicate with his own pet, which Gordon said was possible if there was a loving connection between person and animal.
He then revealed he wasn't joking when he saw the big cat jumping up on the This Morning sofa.
Because he "wasn't allowed" to do a reading live on air, Gordon had previously done some over the phone.
The first was Kayleigh, who was helped through her chronic illness by cat Dexter, who sadly had to be put down last week.
After explaining the situation, Holly said: "What does Dexter say?"
Shuffling his many notes, Gordon said: "Well remember, the first thing, if I look at my crazy notes that I took down...that was for Kayleigh was it? Oh my goodness I've lost Kayleigh's notes.
Trying not to laugh, Phil joked: "Maybe a spirit has taken them."
Gordon replied: "The spirit has taken Kayleigh's notes."
The psychic then went on to reveal her dead grandfather gave him a description of the cat and he revealed details he couldn't possibly have known.
This Morning viewers weren't particularly surprised he couldn't actually talk to animals.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: "Watching #ThisMorning. Man claims he can speak to dead animals. Then gets asked to do it. Then he says well it’s more just getting a ‘sense’ of an animal but that he can’t really do it on tv. But he can definitely do it."
Another added: "Had to be pre done... “Not allowed to do a live medium reading” yeah course you’re bloody not"
A third said: "No they don't you fraud! Animals don't even speak in this life you banana!"
