Doctors Become the Latest Victims of Malawi Vampire Panic

Via coasttocoastam.com

The unsettling vampire panic gripping parts of Malawi has devolved to the point where now health workers are being targeted by hysterical mobs due to suspicions surrounding their stethoscopes!

A national organization of doctors in the country recently released a statement decrying what has become a widespread belief among some Malawians that there are blood-sucking entities preying on unsuspecting members of the public.

Since the panic first began in late September, a jaw-dropping nine people have been killed by vigilante vampire-hunting gangs.

Police have also arrested an astounding 200 such 'crime fighters' in the hopes of restoring some order to the impacted regions.

Having already caused the UN and other international aid groups to flee the area, it would appear that the hysteria is now focusing on doctors and medical personnel with a paranoid eye.

According to Malawi's Society of Medical Doctors, there have been "reports of thuggery that has resulted into some health workers being attacked for carrying a stethoscope," while others had their ambulances destroyed.

Insisting that there is no evidence, whatsoever, that there are blood suckers lurking in the country, the group declared the panic to be a case of mass hysteria and called on cooler heads to prevail.

In a testament to both the absurdity of the situation as well as the troubling hold that the vampire panic has over residents, the doctors organization declared, "no health worker can suck blood with a stethoscope, nor with a power bank. In fact no one else can!"

Hopefully that message makes it to the Malawians still menaced by make believe vampires, since the panic seems to be getting worse by the week rather than dissipating as many had suspected.
