Alien actor opens up about UFO experiences

Via straight.com by Adrian Mack

In a brief interview published by Vice on Wednesday (July 26), actor Yaphet Kotto—star of more than a few great films, including Across 110th Street, Blue Collar, and Alien (heh)—opens up about his lifelong UFO experiences.

"I've only told my wife, my rabbi, and a psychologist,” the 77-year-old actor reveals to Noel Ransome. “This is the first time I'm talking about it."

Kotto’s experiences began as a child when he briefly encountered an entity in his own home which he describes as being “at least five or six feet tall with an elongated head.”

He states that he’s been seeing anomalous things ever since, including a multiple witness sighting of “a UFO as big as the Yankee Stadium turned upside down.”

“The thing blotted out the entire sky,” he says.

Perhaps most interesting, although Ransome doesn’t pursue the angle much, is Kotto’s description of a sighting brought on by meditation.

“I believed that I contributed to those things that were flying above my garage,” he says, adding later that UFOs would show up “as if by request.”

Kotto’s experiences coincide rather nicely with the recently published book UFOs: Reframing the Debate, a compendium of essays that largely reject the so-called “extra-terrestrial hypothesis” for an array of interpretations that fall into the (far more satisfying, if anyone’s asking) category of “high strangeness.”

“I really don't care whether anyone thinks I'm delusional,” says the actor, who notes that he has nothing to promote at the moment. "My delusion is over.”
