ST. PETERSBURG, FL —A 60-year-old St. Petersburg man is more than $500,000 richer courtesy of five lucky numbers suggested by a psychic more than 20 years ago.
According to the Florida Lottery, Richard Klosterman won the $700,000 Lucky Money jackpot drawing on April 12. Klosterman opted for a one-time, lump-sum payment that put his winnings at $545,563.20.
Those winnings, Klosterman told lottery officials, came courtesy of a trip his wife paid to a psychic more than 20 years ago. It seems the psychic supplied Mrs. Klosterman with five numbers that were representative of her.
“All of the numbers in some way related to our lives at the time,” Richard Klosterman told lottery officials. “We’ve been playing those same numbers on various Lottery games ever since.”
Klosterman purchased his winning ticket from the 7-Eleven at 2632 Park St. in St. Petersburg.
Lucky Money drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday night at 11:15 p.m. The game’s jackpot starts at $500,000 and can roll over up to $2 million. “Once the Lucky Money jackpot reaches $2 million and there is no jackpot winner, the jackpot prize pool rolls down and increases the payouts on all of the lower-tier prize levels,” the lottery explained on its website. Tickets are $1 each and call for four numbers and one “Lucky Ball” number.
The jackpot for the April 19 drawing is $550,000.
Klosterman’s winning numbers in that April 12 drawing were 4, 8, 9 and 20 with 12 as the “Lucky Ball,” according to lottery records.
Klosterman isn’t the only Tampa Bay area resident to take home a hefty prize in recent weeks. New Port Richey’s Linda Gilliam, 66, won $2 million in the April 6, Powerball drawing. Her win was announced by the state on Friday, April 16. Gilliam bought her ticket at Publix, 40932 U.S. 19 N., in Tarpon Springs.
