When Suzie Price, 47, was hit by a car aged seven-years-old she had a near death experience that left her with incredible psychic abilities.
Ever since, the award-winning psychic medium, from the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, has been working as a full-time ghost whisperer and helps people connect with loved ones who have passed on.
'I remember seeing a beautiful spirit during my near death experience and felt the most unconditional love, but she said I had to come back and when I came to, spirit people would come and visit me and I have been able to communicate with them ever since,' Ms Price told Daily Mail Australia.
But Ms Price is no stranger to the sceptics and those who doubt her ability, and has spoken about the most frustrating, common and bizarre myths she has come across throughout her career.
DO PSYCHIC MEDIUMS USE DISHONEST TECHNIQUES TO CON CLIENTS?
'When it comes to this it's difficult because when it comes to myself, I find that the sceptics are the ones who haven't met me or had a reading and there's no way to convince them otherwise unless they experience it,' Ms Price said.
'I personally haven't come across people who scam but I can imagine people do do that despite most psychic mediums I have met having people's best interests at heart.
'Some believe they are better than what they are - I don't like saying that but it's true - and especially those online who will ask for details and money... you really need to go by word-of-mouth when it comes to this industry. I am booked out for 12 months in advance all due to word-of-mouth.'
WHY CAN'T PSYCHICS ALWAYS FIND MISSING PEOPLE?
While many psychics have been able to assist in finding missing persons in the past, Ms Price says it's not as easy as tuning in and receiving instructions.
She has worked on unsolved and suspected abductions and murders of young girls before and while she could connect with their spirits and given 'impressions of different circumstances surrounding their deaths', there were often 'dozens or even hundreds of different locations that may fit the impressions.'
'It's easier when they haven't been missing as long too as there is still an energy connection,' she said, 'and in some cases red tape and expenses will prevent you from getting where you need to go and your hands are tied in a way,' she said.
CAN PSYCHIC MEDIUMS READ MINDS?
'I've had people say to me "you must have known I was coming because you're psychic" or they will ask me for lotto numbers,' Ms Price said, adding that if she could she would be a millionaire.
'I and other psychic mediums tune into energy fields, we cannot read minds... people have free will.
'It's not right to cross boundaries unless they want me to... if they wanted to let me tune in possibly I could transfer information but it's an ethical thing and I don't like to do things like that.'
Ms Price said that while she and other psychics can see images, hear noises, voices and words, or taste things, it all needs to be put together and has nothing to do with reading minds.
CAN PSYCHICS PREDICT THE FUTURE?
Psychics cannot and do not actually 'predict' the future, but tune into energies 'connected to future events' and use their senses to 'give insights into possible outcomes'.
'I use tarot cards at the end of a reading to do a six to 12 month reading but nothing is written in stone,' Ms Price said.
'They may have things they want to happen in their life and that can come up in the reading too, but they may cross and go down a different path... we all have free will and we can go in any direction we choose.
'Recently though I met with a woman at a party who had three sons and I knew she was pregnant instantly. She had no idea and denied it at the time but recently got in touch and confirmed that I was right.'
WHEN A PSYCHIC'S LOVED ONE PASSES ON, CAN THEY CHAT TO THEM?
'When you connect to spirits it's not like having a conversation... they send thoughts to me and I'll then send thoughts back and try to work out the messages,' Ms Price said.
'Sometimes it's like a game of charades and the thoughts often feel like they are outside of myself and quite an overwhelming feeling.
'My step father who I was very close to passed away in December and he has been sending me black and white butterflies and other specific signs I asked of him before he passed on.'
ARE PSYCHICS BOTHERED BY THE SCEPTICS?
'My career is so rewarding and I can't imagine doing anything else, but when I was younger it was very difficult and confusing to try and explain it to family and friends... my mum, who has now accepted it, even tried to send me to psychologists,' Ms Price said.
'I don't let the sceptics get to me as much anymore but it does hurt sometimes because I am quite sensitive, although I am getting a lot stronger as I realise these are people who have no idea what it's all about.
'The hardest times are those who have full on sceptic societies. They are really hurtful, especially when they try to label what I do as evil or connected with dark spirits and things like that.
'At the end of the day I'd just like to say to them to open their minds and understand that there is a lot more out there than the world can see... don't cut yourself off as once you are aware and have a connection you will see so much more.'
