Haunted mansion owner warns thief should return stolen witch -- or else

The Larimer Mansion on Maus Drive in North Huntingdon, Westmoreland County is known for being a hotbed for paranormal activity. It's because of its proven fame that the mansion's owner is concerned about the person who stole a decoration from the property.
Lynne Moisey said she was awakened around 5:30 a.m. Monday and looked out her window. She saw that a $50 witch that she purchased in the Outer Banks was gone.
"I looked through the blinds. She was so colorful that you'd notice her right away. I knew she was gone. I knew right away," Moisey said. "I think they tried to warn me. I think the spirits were trying to get my attention, but I didn't understand what they were trying to say to me."
Larimer Mansion has been researched and toured by hundreds over the past several decades, Moisey said. Many people, including Moisey, have reported communications and encounters with ghosts.
"I feel very sorry for (whoever took the witch), because you don't rob from a haunted house," Moisey said.
Moisey said the large yard ornament was heavy and likely couldn't be blown away, but she searched the area with no luck. The witch was supposed to draw passing drivers' attention to a sign advertising ghost tours at the bed-and-breakfast.
Moisey didn't call the police because she said the witch was worth $50, and she didn't think it was worth it. Plus, Moisey said, the potential punishment could be far worse than theft charges in magistrate court.
"The spirits that are here, they appreciate this house. They appreciate everything that's in it. They appreciate what me and Larry have done for this house. They're very protective of this house," Moisey said. "If this person had any luck, they do not now."
Moisey said she's certain that the spirits will find whoever stole the witch and haunt that person.
"Ghosts are very patient. They will haunt him down," Moisey said. "If you have it, you need to return it. You need to return it. That's the only way you're going to be safe."
Moisey said anyone who has the witch can return it to the front of the mansion property with no questions asked.
