Dead stupid: Spooky skull seen on picture of kids risking their lives by subway surfing

Via mirror.co.uk by Sam Webb

The ghostly visage of a skull was seen in a photo where children were risking their lives by clinging onto the back of a moving subway train.

It was taken on the same day a woman fell to her death between two carriages on the New York Subway.

The startling image was captured by Manhattan real-estate broker Sean Futterman at the 96th street station on the Upper West Side on Monday evening, who sent it to local website West Side Rag.

Futterman and other people at the station were shouting at the kids to jump down, but the youngsters laughed and swore at the concerned commuters as the train entered the tunnel.

But after the photo went online, people noticed what appears to be skull can clearly be seen underneath the foolhardy trio.

Subway surfing has killed more than a dozen people since the late 1980s, with many more injured.

After seeing the photo, Metropolitan Transportation Authority official Kevin Ortiz told Pix 11: "Stupidity knows no bounds."
