Grim Reaper appears at traffic accident scene in Oregon but driver lives

A man miraculously survived a 50-vehicle pileup traffic accident on an Oregon freeway yesterday. In a photograph of the accident, a strange robed figure can be seen next to the man's pickup truck which was wedged between two tractor-trailers, the Weather Channel reported today.

Kaleb Whitby was traveling on Interstate 84 in eastern Oregon on Saturday when he was involved in a major traffic accident that left twelve people injured. The 50-car pileup also included about a dozen 18-wheelers. Black ice and fog was determined to be a factor in the multi-vehicle collision that happened just before 5 am east of Baker City.

Whitby escaped a mangled Chevy Silverado pickup with only scratches and went home with Band-Aids. While the 27-year-old was trapped in the wreckage for 30 minutes, a man who was also involved in the accident captured a photo of the scene. Sergi Karplyuk took the photo of Whitby and said he couldn't believe his eyes and that he made it out alive.

"I was just praying that this can't be my time and that hoping that everything would be okay and that I would make it back to family. Thank God that I'm still alive, Now I've got to go figure out why," Whitby said.



In the photo, Whitby is seen staring into the camera while what looks like an eerie robed figure is leaving the scene. Whitby said he prayed to God during the ordeal. Nearly a hundred people were involved in the accident but only twelve people were treated for minor injuries.

"When I was sitting in the pickup, I didn't feel like it was bad as it did as when you step out and look at. The fog was a lot thicker than I liked so I went ahead and slowed back down. I noticed the truck in front of me started to brake and then started to sway. That ended up pushing my back end back into traffic and there was a semi that was behind me, then he hit my bed, which then folded that underneath the first truck, then my nose underneath his truck. I'm just glad to be alive," Whitby said to Fox News.

Many witnesses that were at the scene of the accident believe that Whitby had a guardian angel watching over him. He says he is lucky to be alive and happy to be back with his family.
