Japanese Government Denies Ghost Rumors

The Japanese government has issued an official statement, denying that the prime minister’s (Shinzo Abe) house is haunted. Helping to fuel the ghost rumors, is the fact that Abe is yet to move into the dwelling, although it has been over five months since he assumed power.

In a letter of inquiry, Ken Kagaya of the rival Democratic Party asked if “ghosts” are the reason Abe has still not moved into his residence. The Cabinet issued a quick response saying that it was not aware of any such rumors.

The house was built in 1929 and has a tragic history, making it perfect for an allegedly haunted house. A former prime minister was assassinated there in 1932 and a few years later, several officials were killed in an attempted military coup known in Japan as the February 26th Incident.
The residence has long been plagued with rumors of paranormal activity and this official statement from the government, probably only serves to keep the rumors going.
