A Texas high school student has been charged with making a “terrorist
threat” on a public entity after police connected him to bathroom stall
graffiti depicting a pentagram and the message “Satan is God.”
Brownsboro ISD student Jacob McCawley, 17, was charged as an adult
with the third degree felony of making terroristic threats against
students after pictures of his alleged graffiti began making rounds on
social media pages, KLTV-reports.
The bathroom graffiti at the high school includes messages such as
“Hail Satan forever” and “I will sacrifice 10 students” in addition to
the pentagram drawing.
McCawley has been suspended from school pending further investigation.
Parents confirmed to KLTV that the bathroom wall images calling to
“sacrifice the children” were posted to a public group page and some
were concerned they weren’t notified of the threats that high school
staff discovered on Tuesday.
“I have not received any kind of call stating that something had
happened at the school last night,” said guardian of a BISD student,
Karen Geddie.
But ISD officials say it is a tough balance between creating
unnecessary alarm and simply keeping parents informed of safety issues.
“Our students have been safe the entire time,” Superintendent
Christopher Moran told KLTV. “The response was timely and efficient.
Some of the comments were threatening in nature and created some anxiety
and concern among some parents.
“We are careful not to create alarm when it’s not needed, but on the
other hand we need to give information to help ease anxiety and fear of
parents,” said Moran. “I am pleased with the response and coordination
by the high school staff, BISD Police, and local law enforcement.”
