A psychic who claims to have come face-to-face with The Black Eyed Child has revealed the ghoul was the victim of a diphtheria outbreak in the 1800s.
Christine
Hamlett says her special powers allow ghosts like the girl with the
charcoal eye sockets – spotted dozens of times in recent weeks – to
present themselves to her.
And after photographing the infamous spook praying
twice on the sprawling Cannock Chase, Staffs, the 57-year-old has now
released new intriguing pictures of the supposed phenomenon.
Christine,
who calls herself a rescue medium, believes The Black Eyed Child, which
has been spooking visitors for 30 years, is the victim of a deadly
plague that wiped out scores of people in the Victorian era.
Diphtheria was known for causing victims to suffer paralysis in their eyes – making their sockets appear sunken.
Christine, of Northwich, Cheshire, claims the ghost is scaring shocked locals because it has "unfinished business".
When
she visited it's haunting ground, Christine said she felt she was being
"transported back in time" by the reclusive spook, which appeared to
lean against a tree.
The 40-year medium said: "These spirits need my help.
"Black eyed child ghosts are reportedly the bringers of bad news.
"So my advice would be not to interact with them unless you know what you’re doing.
"I think they are spirits with unfinished business.
"They
have a story to tell and I feel that once they have said what they want
to, they will be willing to pass to the other side.
"These children are troubled souls and they don’t hang around for nothing.
"When I work I feel a presence, so I create an energy point and open my chakras (energy points) and attempt to speak to them.
"In this case I noticed a strange smell and just felt like I was being taken back in time.
"I know it is a girl, but I haven't managed to get anything more about her yet.
"I haven't decided if I will go back, I need to analyse my latest set of pictures first."
The Black Eyed Child of Cannock Chase has quickly become an internet sensation sparking worldwide interest.
Some
witnesses claim the child giggles and calls for help while the
descriptions of the girl are identical to those chronicled in the early
1980s.
