Maine viewers can tune in at 9 pm Wednesday nights on Syfy to bid farewell to Grant Wilson in his final six episodes. His final show is slated to air on May 16, 2012.
Grant announced his decision to leave the show in an episode aired on February 15. The news was met with seeming shock - and more than a few tears - as the team grappled with the idea of Ghost Hunters without Grant.
Although he assured them, “This is not the end. This is not goodbye.” team members and fans alike knew it was the end of an era and that Ghost Hunters would never be the same again.
Syfy has remained closed-mouthed about what viewers can expect when the show airs for the new season without Grant. It is unknown at this time whether the original team members will be reassigned roles to accommodate Grant’s leaving, or if another member will replace him.
This writer speculates that perhaps Jason’s daughter, Halley Hawes, will join the team to fill in the void. Although Halley has never been a fulltime member of the team, she has accompanied them on several investigations and seems like the obvious choice. Whether she intends to join her father in the search of evidence of the paranormal is purely speculation at this point – but does open up some interesting possibilities.
Maine fans agree that barring the addition of new members to the team, Steve Gonsalves is the obvious choice as Jason’s partner – but that breaking up the dynamics between Steve and Tango may not be in the best interest of the show.
What the future holds for Ghost Hunters may be unclear, but one thing is for certain:
