Neil deGrasse Tyson Testifies Before Senate Science Committee, March 7, 2012
Astronomer and space exploration advocate Neil deGrasse Tyson spoke on March 7, 2012 before the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.
Before Dr. Tyson spoke, NASA administrator Charles Bolden testified to this committee. You can watch that testimony at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeQLIFSzYg0.
With all due respect to Dr. Tyson ... The problem isn't what he's saying. The problem is no one with the money listens. That committee has 25 members. Only three or four attended his presentation. They're only interested in pork for their states. He needs to mobilize people politically as Carl Sagan did when he started the Planetary Society. Politicians will act only when it helps them stay in office, and right now space won't do that for most of them.
