"We have not yet recorded the arrest because we are not convinced of the crime he committed. The suspect is an unemployed youth living in the same neighbourhood. We have verified his address and let him go. But a probe is still on," said Medical College circle inspector A Pramod Kumar.
An apparition popularly known as 'black man' has been the talk of the town for the past few weeks. People have been complaining that they saw a dark figure loitering in their courtyard in late nights.
The rural police confirm the fact the people are still perturbed by the mysterious man, though no complaints were officially filed. P S Maya, the councillor of Perumulloor ward in Maranalloor panchayat is one person who is greatly concerned over the issue, for many people of her ward have been approaching her with complaints about 'black man'. But she did not go to the police because as a responsible person she wanted her complaint to be rational. "I tell them that it was all a case of delusion," she said.
Meanwhile, the police officers of Neyyatinkara sub division, from were several complaints about this apparition originated, maintained that 'black man' might be the brain child of some pervert young men, who liked to peep into bedrooms at night. The perverts in other parts too might have adopted the idea, said a civil police officer at Neyyatinkara police station.
