CYBERWAR UPDATE: Sarah Palin-friendly sites attacked

Websites supportive of former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin came under cyberattack Thursday, a day after Palin’s own site was briefly taken down by hackers, POLITICO has learned.
Conservatives4Palin, a pseudo-official site that promotes the former governor and frequently defends her against media attacks, was knocked offline Thursday after being targeted by hackers, one of the site’s bloggers told POLITICO.

“Conservatives4Palin.com has come under cyberattack yesterday and today,” said Conservatives4Palin’s Tim Lindell.

Visitors to the site on Thursday afternoon saw the page turn all-white with a brief line of text: “This site is currently off air for essential maintenance.”
Additionally, the site of conservative radio host Tammy Bruce — herself a firm Palin supporter — went down Thursday. Bruce wrote on Twitter that her staff believed the site, which came back online later, was “under attack.”
Neither the two Palin-friendly sites nor Palin’s team would speculate on whether the incidents were connected.
"At this point I cannot determine who is responsible for the attack, whether this is a coordinated attack against Palin bloggers or if it just happens to be a coincidence," said a source affiliated with Conservatives4Palin.
Other sites sympathetic to the former governor, including PalinTV, were still online Thursday.
Palin said Wednesday that the attack on her PAC's site came from hackers sympathetic to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
“No wonder others are keeping silent about Assange's antics,” Palin told ABC News. “This is what happens when you exercise the First Amendment and speak against his sick, un-American espionage efforts.”
Credit cards belonging to both the former governor and her husband, Todd, were also compromised by the attack, Palin said Wednesday.
Palin became a target for WikiLeaks supporters after she harshly criticized the site for leaking secret U.S. diplomatic cables.
