[A look at the Boko Haram.]
On Sunday, July 20, a prominent Pentecostal church in Abuja led a large public demonstration against corruption along the streets of Abuja culminating at the Eagle Square. Very few seemed to have taken notice of what I consider a milestone event that ought to have generated so much talk in our country. That is an indication that many Nigerians have either become so hopelessly apathetic or that our minds have been so seared as if with an electric iron that we have become numbed to the pains and shame of corruption. We are no longer interested in the righteousness that exalts a nation but have become indifferent to the sin that is a reproach to the society.
The time has come, I think, for a similar public demonstration against the removal from power of occult leaders. Last week, we pointed out in this column the great harm occult leaders are doing to our nation. We said they have brought a curse on this country because they often get engaged in the three mortal sins that attract God's judgment against a people. The three are sexual immorality, idolatry and the shedding of innocent blood.
