Anonymous Claims NASA Already Has Knowledge of Aliens

Via mysteriousuniverse.org by Brett Tingley

Everyone’s favorite (or least favorite) hacker collective has posted a new video claiming that NASA has definitive proof of the existence of alien life, but that world governments are suppressing it in order to avoid global panic. Anonymous posted the video to their “Anonymous Global” YouTube channel on June 20 and has racked up over a million views with the video so far.

The video itself is bizarre in typical Anonymous fashion, featuring a loop of a masked figure shuffling through papers with UFO footage and film grain superimposed over it. A deep, disjointed computer-generated voice reads a rambling manifesto citing unnamed FBI documents and claiming NASA already has knowledge of aliens, hiding between the lines of recent public discoveries:

Are you ready for disclosure? Or are you expecting little microorganisms on a distant moon in our solar system? There are many who claim that unofficially mankind has already made contact with aliens – and not just microorganisms floating around inside a massive alien oceans, but advanced spacefaring civilizations […] NASA is already prepared to announce extraterrestrial life.

The video’s creators seem to base its claims mainly on NASA research concerning Saturn’s moon Enceladus and the recent exoplanet announcements. The Cassini probe recently discovered molecular hydrogen in volcanic plumes rising from the surface of Enceladus, implying geothermal activity which could create the right conditions for alien life of some kind. NASA has also discovered hundreds of new exoplanets over the last few years, some of which are believed to be possibly habitable. While all of these breakthroughs are exciting developments in the search for extraterrestrial life, they aren’t exactly proof of little green men yet.

Outlets across the web (yes, and us too) have been covering the release of the video, giving Anonymous what they clearly wanted: attention. Yet, the video ultimately offers up nothing new and instead rehashes worn-out, baseless claims in an unconvincing and somewhat hokey manner. The video has some obviously fake UFO videos edited in, further weakening their message. For Anonymous to make this claim without offering any new evidence seems rather pointless.
