Ghosthunting 101 with Kansas City's P.E.D.R.O.
Tonight I attended a great presentation by Kansas City's P.E.D.R.O. (Paranormal Encounter Documentation & Research Organization). P.E.D.R.O. is very active in Kansas and Missouri and has covered many haunted locations since they started in 2002. During their presentation, they covered such topics as:
You can find more about P.E.D.R.O., tours they give in and around Kansas City and a few places they have investigated at:

I hope to be working with them in the future, recording their great ghost work here in KC. Stay tuned!

Scotland’s biggest UFO incident to hit the big screen
STV.TV-- Scotland’s biggest UFO incident is being made into a film, depicting the story of two men who claim they were abducted from their car on the A70 road in West Lothian in 1992.

Scotland has always been a hotspot for UFO and alien-based activity and now London-based DRB Entertainment is hoping to re-tell the story of Garry Wood and Colin Wright, who claim they were abducted while driving to the village of Tarbrax. Their intended 30 minute journey took an unexpected turn when a disc shaped object hovered above the road in front of them as they drove along the quiet road at 8pm.

Blind 'batboy' boy uses his ears to 'see'
Telegraph.co.uk-- Lucas Murray from Poole in Dorset has learned to use echoes to picture the world around him - similar to sonar techniques used by bats and dolphins.
He clicks his tongue on the roof of his mouth and from the sound that returns he tries to work out the distance, shape, density and position of objects.
The echolocation technique has helped Lucas, who was born blind, play basketball and rock climb.
What are Shadow People?
Paranormal.About.com-- There's a growing interest in the phenomenon of shadow people. What are they? Ghosts? Interdimensional beings? Time travelers? Something else?
"WHAT WAS THAT?" You were sitting comfortably on your sofareading the latest issue of FATE in the dim light when movement across the room caught your attention. It seemed dark and shadowy, but there was nothing there. You returned to your reading - and a moment later there it was again. You looked up quickly this time and saw the fleeting but distinctly human shape of the shadow pass quickly over the far wall... and disappear.

Jack the Ripper's identity finally uncovered?
Telegraph.co.uk-- Mei Trow used modern police forensic techniques, including psychological and geographical profiling, to identify Robert Mann, a morgue attendant, as the killer.
His theory, the result of two years intensive research, is explored in a Discovery Channel documentary, Jack the Ripper: Killer Revealed.
Trow's research is rooted in information from a 1988 FBI examination of the Ripper case, which had worked up a comprehensive criminal personality profile.
The portrait drawn up of Jack was as a white male from the lower social classes, most likely the product of a broken home.
Universe is messier than scientists had thought
New calculations suggest that the cosmos may be a bit closer to heat death
ScienceNews.org-- For all its tumult — erupting stars, colliding galaxies, collapsing black holes — the cosmos is a surprisingly orderly place. Theoretical calculations have long shown that the entropy of the universe — a measure of its disorder — is but a tiny fraction of the maximum allowable amount.
A new calculation of entropy upholds that general result but suggests that the universe is messier than scientists had thought — and slightly further along on its gradual journey to death, two Australian cosmologists conclude.
An analysis by Chas Egan of the Australian National University in Canberra and Charles Lineweaver of the University of New South Wales in Sydney indicates that the collective entropy of all the supermassive black holes at the centers of galaxies is about 100 times higher than previously calculated. Because supermassive black holes are the largest contributor to cosmic entropy, the finding suggests that the entropy of the universe is also about 100 times larger than previous estimates, the researchers reported online September 23 at arXiv.org.

Saint Expedite
LuckyMojo-- Saint Expedite is the patron of those who hope for rapid solutions to problems, who wish to avoid or put an end to delays, and who want general financial success. His aid is also sought by those who wish to overcome procrastination as a personal bad habit, as well as by shop-keepers and sailors. His feast day is April 19.
Expedite is typically depicted as a young Roman centurion holding aloft a cross marked HODIE ("today" in Latin) and squashing a crow beneath his right foot. Out of the dying crow's mouth issues a word-ribbon, CRAS ("tomorrow" in Latin). Thus Expedite destroys a vague tomorrow in favour of a definite today.

Classic case: Psychiatric treatment of ghost possession
MindHacks.com-- In 1994 a curious case-report was published in the British Journal of Psychiatry. It described a man who believed he was possessed by a spirit and was successfully treated by medication. Unusually however, the article mentioned that other people had seen the ghost.
Belief in possession is not uncommon in psychosis, the mental state that can sometimes accompany severe mental illness and typically involves delusions and hallucinations.
Psychiatry usually assumes all such experiences to be tricks of the mind, rather than the result of other-worldly powers.

World's Scariest Movie's Director To Make World's Scariest Alien Film
IO9.com-- While Paranormal Activity continues to ride its hype machine as the scariest movie ever made, writer/director Oren Peli is already preparing his next terrifying epic, all about aliens and Area 51.
According to Variety Peli begins production on Area 51 next week. And yes it will continue to have that home made "found footage" look.
The movie will be about three teens whose enter Area 51 out of curiosity, and apparently bring a camera along...
Then they get lost because one of them jokingly threw the map in the river and then another one mysteriously disappears in the night and the girl of the group finds a piece of him tied to his old plaid shirt. Then they run and they scream and they run and they scream and stand in a corner... then screen-fuzz.
The second half of that is guesswork on our part, but the first half is true. The same producer who worked on PA will be working on Area 51. Hype or not, PA has great buzz for scaring some folks — so jokes aside, we're ready for scary aliens, because it's been a really long while since we've been scared by our manipulative space neighbors. Let's just hope that Milla Jovovich didn't beat them to the punch.

Michigan witness catches disc-shaped UFO on camera
MI, October 4, 2009 - Two distinct objects, One Rectagular and One Disc. MUFON Case # 19811.
A Michigan witness watched two unidentified objects in the night sky over Round Lake. The first was described as a bright, tall, box-shaped object. It moved across the sky with "three sets of multi color blinking lights," made a sharp right turn, and turned its lights off. The second object was described as "a bright white disc shaped object that had a round center." The witness was able to snap one photo with a cell phone of the second object and wants to know if anyone else saw the same thing.
