The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks - Trailer
Cold Spots: The Octagon House
Fond Du Lac, WI - You are running, not just for your life, but for those of your children and their children after. Traveling by night, you listen for the bay of dogs on your trail, watch for the faint glow of torches. They're coming, close on your heels, and relentless. In the darkness, across the hostile land, stands a man with a lantern, beckoning. You follow because it's what you've been told to do.
He leads you into an oddly-shaped house, up the stairs, and through a hidden door to a space too small to crawl, then he shuts the door behind you. Cramped you are, yes, but in this instance you finally feel safe. Your pursuers will still follow, but the man with the lantern will keep you from harm for the night. They follow you not because of some crime you committed, but for the color of your skin.
One of the most interesting parts of writing this column is that, as someone who tells ghost stories, I've become something of an arm-chair historian by exposure. Battlefields and butchery, enraged lovers and ships at sea all tell a distinctive story that gives reasons behind the paranormal experiences other have had in certain places. Most often, it seems, hauntings are not just caused by violent deaths or tragedy, but by high emotions. Intense fear, love, hatred, or even joy can leave imprints behind for future generations to see. In some cases, the repercussions of those actions stand as monuments for future generations in the form of expanded rights. In others, those actions live on as ghosts.

12 Worthy Causes Seek Your Spare PC Cycles You can contribute to a variety of scientific research and charities by donating your system's idle process
So you'd like to do more volunteering but can't find the time? Here's an easy way to do it: Donate the spare processing power on your computer via one of the dozens of ongoing volunteer computing projects, many based on open source software called BOINC. You know, like SETI@home, the well-documented project that uses otherwise idle computing cycles to help "search for extraterrestrial intelligence." Here's a look at 12 cool projects, with thanks to volunteer computing enthusiast Jonathan Brier and UC Berkeley's David Anderson for their insights. The Web sites for the various projects typically include stats on how much processing power they're using, who is volunteering their processors, and so on.
SETI: The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence 50-Year Anniversary
“Scientists have been searching for aliens for 50 years, scanning the skies with an ever-more sophisticated array of radio telescopes and computers. Known as SETI, the search marks its half-century this month. Jennifer Armstrong and Andrew Johnson examine its close and not so close encounters,” reports The Independent.Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI) is the collective name for a number of activities people undertake to search for extraterrestrial life. SETI projects use scientific methods to search for electromagnetic transmissions from civilizations on distant planets. The United States government contributed to earlier SETI projects, but recent work has been primarily funded by private sources.
There are great challenges in searching across the sky for a first transmission that could be characterized as intelligent, since its direction, spectrum and method of communication are all unknown beforehand. SETI projects necessarily make assumptions to narrow the search, and thus no exhaustive search has been conducted so far.
New recorded evidence of ‘Jackie’ the Queen Mary talking ghost child
Melissaa.com-- NEW RECORDED EVIDENCE of “Jackie” the Queen Mary talking ghost child is now available for review at parainvestigations.com!! View discussions and hear the actual audio clip in its 15 minute entirety that has received over 5,000 hits the first day of content posting.
Bob Davis, CEO of Planet Paranormal Broadcast Network and Planet Paranormal Investigations, presents evidence that he and investigative teammate Brian Clune captured of “Jackie” the talking ghost child in the pool area of the Queen Mary during the ship’s Paranormal Retreat in December 2008; on two separate audio recorders. Note: This is not an EVP, it is an actual conversation that lasted over 15 minutes with a disembodied child entity!
If you are a fan of the paranormal, you do not want to miss this amazing evidence!! Not since the famed televised communication of world renowned psychic and paranormal investigator Peter James has Jackie’s vocalization been so pronounced. The child’s voice on the recording is IDENTICAL to the one James communicated with nearly twenty years ago!
Further, four separate governmental sources are cross-analyzing the recorded evidence; including, audio experts within the FBI and Secret Service. Essentially, the recent vocalization of the child entity will be examined for similarities with Peter James’ communication with Jackie that was broadcast globally on the FOX hit prime time series “Sightings” in 1991. If evidence is revealed that the child voices match, it will be the most compelling scientifically verified documentation of paranormal activity ever released to the world!
To hear the audio please visit www.parainvestigations.com and look under the audio evidence or news section. The direct link to the audio file is at http://paranormalnews.planetparanormal.com/?p=55 . Please use headphones for best results and be among the first to review this historic evidence…If anyone in the Scientific community wishes to analyze this audio and try to match it to the Peter James audio or do any other analysis of the audio. Mr. Davis welcomes you to contact him at planetparanormal@earthlink.net
Latest UFO Sighting in Arizona Similar to Phoenix Lights
Brad Denning's son received a call from his friend to look up into the sky, because there were some strange lights to be seen. Brad Denning rushed into his home to get his camera and started to record the event (he then contacted CNN)
Apparently, the four lights were in a line to begin with, but later changed formation. However, they remained in one area.
Denning mentioned that a plane flew near the lights, but estimated the plane was around 30,000-40,000 feet below the actual lights. He also said that the lights were not flares.
Those who follow reports on UFO's may remember that a previous (and well known) sighting over Phoenix in 1997 was explained as flares, even though the sighting lasted quite a long time.
According to Denning's report, there was no noise and eventually, one by one, the lights would blink and move away, with the last one remaining for about four minutes.
In the CNN video the lights seemed to glow red occasionally, just as they did in the Phoenix sighting 12 years earlier.
The military said that they had no craft in that area at the time, but have not contacted Mr. Denning for further information.
You would think that such a sighting might have been of interest to the authorities, seeing as it was not one of their craft in the sky.
Some have even questioned why CNN should show such an interest in a UFO sighting, as this is not something they usually do.

UFO, An Educated Inquiry
UFO's and possible alien visitations have been at the forefront of past and modern day phenomenon reports for centuries. Modern man has failed to disprove or rightly prove the existence of such matters to this day. I for one have researched and indulged myself along with others to come to some sort of understanding and common ground regarding these issues and I will continue to do so until either I draw my last breath or all mankind knows the truth. The situation we face regarding UFO's has seemed to always be a tough up-hill climb riddled with tons of misinformation and down right lies, thus making every inch of research highly painstaking to an individual that is inquiring. UFO's and aliens have been the frontrunner in modern day (since 1947) paranormal phenomenon and an increasing number of personalities are joining the ranks of UFO enthusiast as we speak, many of whom once scoffed the idea aliens from another world or realm was just utter bilge!
Through time there has been other phenomenon being reported all over the world as well, a phenomenon of a different sort of note… or is it? It is funny really how one group of people can denounce the existence of one thing yet they are 'all in' regarding other forms of rare phenomenon. I think we all would agree the sightings and reports from all over the planet regarding 'spirits' or 'ghosts' has been and still is a hot topic with many paranormal investigators today. There are today television shows dedicated to such investigations such as "Ghost Hunters" and others as well. There are many people or groups though whom I have mentioned above that seems to favor strongly certain areas of the paranormal and totally disregarding others that seem no more far-fetched to the layman than the one they support at all costs. During my time within the UFO phenomenon research genre I have noticed a similar or common bond if you will, with reported UFO's and ghost sightings. I know that many who has studied the UFO phenomenon at any length has had to notice the similarities at one time or another. This is because it is a fact and it happens regularly.

Manson family member turned loose from jail
Fromme, 60, will remain under supervised probation for the rest of her life, officials said.
The California-born follower of 1960s cult leader Charles Manson was convicted in 1975 of Ford's attempted assassination after her dramatic arrest by security agents as she pointed a gun at the president in Florida.
Husband and wife team hunts for ghosts
And why not?
A 2008 Harris Poll said 44 percent of Americans believe in ghosts.
That means somebody sitting right near you at the office is a believer, if it's not you.
Friendly greetings are what the Gold Bar couple got Friday afternoon, as they parked in front of Central Saloon (better known by its previous name Central Tavern, before it started serving hard liquor) in Pioneer Square.
Employees at the historic place, established in 1892, say they have experienced supernatural occurrences, and it wasn't by Seahawks fans after a game.
Tonight, the Coateses will bring their electronic gear to the Central and go down to its basement to hunt for ghosts.
On a screen outside the joint, they will project what their camcorders have picked up in the dark using infrared light.
Plenty of ghost stories surround a number of old Pioneer Square buildings.
At the Central, David Lewis does maintenance and is the "barback guy," who restocks all the booze in the mornings. He said he has had his share of ghostly experiences.
The tavern has a stage in the rear, and in the back of the stage is a stained-glass window to the alley.
"In the middle of the day, I watched the stage and saw something go across and block out the sunlight. But there was nobody there," Lewis said.

UPDATE: Orang Pendek Sighted in Indonesia
Devon Explorers - “Yeti sighted in Jungle !!!! Two team members have sighted the Yeti while we were in the jungle. I heard a large animal moving towards us. Subsequently the creature was then sighted by team member Dave Archer and Sahar Didmus, a forest ranger. I have a sworn affadavit from Sahar to that effect. It hid from us by a tree, before moving rapidly and bipedally through the jungle. Dave describes the OP [Orang Pendek] as looking almost chimpanzee-like. Sahar was so upset and disturbed he began sobbing, and I had to comfort him. We have taken hair samples found at the site, and bagged some rattan which it was eating. We will have these analysed by Todd Disotell. Numerous tracks also found……………!!!!!!!!” ~ Adam Davies (enroute out of Indonesia via Singapore)
Psychic and Photographer in Hunt for ‘Bownessie’ beneath Windermere
The Westmorland Gazette-- A TEAM of investigators will scour Windermere in a hunt for a legendary monster that is claimed to lurk in its deep waters. The search follows years of reported sightings of a big creature in the lake, the most recent being in July when Lake District hotelier Thomas Noblett was hit by a three-foot wave as he was swimming.
A chartered boat will take to England’s longest lake on September 19 with celebrity and sports psychic Dean Maynard at the helm. He will be joined by Windermere photographer Linden Adams who claims to have seen ‘Bownessie’ – the nickname for the monster – from a viewpoint on Gummers How in 2007.
There will also be people with cameras dotted around the shoreline to capture any unusual activity.
“Linden Adams and I are really geared up and ready for the challenge ahead and we hope to find some concrete evidence something big does exist in the lake," said Mr Maynard.
In 2006 The Westmorland Gazette reported how Huddersfield University journalism lecturer Steve Burnip, of Hebden Bridge, saw a serpent-like creature emerge from the waters as he stood at Watbarrow Point across from Waterhead.
He described it as being 15 to 20 feet long with a little head and two small humps following in its wake. He said it looked like a giant eel.
“I am absolutely convinced that there is a big creature in the lake,” said Mr Burnip. “I am really pleased that there is a renewed interest in it because I know what I saw.
“I can see it in my head now, this grey lump and the humps breaking the water like you see in the classic Loch Ness pictures. There is something in there, something quite big and elusive.”
Mr Adams, whose picture of the creature was studied by photographic experts after appearing on the front page of the Gazette, said: “I looked at it through binoculars and the naked eye and what I saw was huge.
"A lot of photographic experts have had the opportunity to look at the pictures and they are still baffled.”
Ecology experts have told the Gazette that catfish are sometimes introduced to lakes by anglers. They believe that what could be being seen is the Welsh catfish that originates from mainland Europe.
UFO Attacks on Humans
‘I am an elderly lady and have no reason to lie’ noted Mrs Zhu, a high-school teacher.
‘As we were walking a glowing, red, egg-shaped object or UFO appeared in front of us. The object was emitting what appeared to be red lasers. The lasers were shooting out to a distance of 20cm and were about five centimetres in thickness. We tried to move away from the object and suddenly three beams shot out and hit both of us around the collar-bone. The women were about a meter away from the unexplainable object.
A few seconds later the UFO vanished.
When Mrs Zhu went home she felt some pain around her neck and then noticed a deep scar ten centimetres long in the area the laser struck her. It was as if a sharp instrument had cut her skin in a precise manner.
A number of government scientists who have examined the case insist that Mrs Zhu must have hurt herself prior to allegedly seeing the orb and having forgotten how the injury occurred associated it with the alleged object. It was, however, confirmed that lasers can create the injuries reported.
The women noted that there was a loud noise when the attack occurred and a baffled Mrs Chu comments that ‘I know that I did not injure myself otherwise, it happened then.’
Poltergeist Cases: The Danny Poltergeist
Victorian Ghost Hunter -- In 1998, Jane Fishman, a reporter for the Savannah Morning News, began a series of articles about a possibly haunted antique bed in the home of Al Cobb of Savannah, Georgia. Cobb bought the vintage late-1800s bed at an auction as a Christmas present for his 14-year-old son, Jason – a purchase he later regretted.“Three nights later,” Fishman reported, “Jason told his parents he felt as if someone had planted elbows on his pillow and was watching him and breathing cold air down the back of his neck. He felt sick. The next night he noticed the photo of his deceased grandparents on his wicker nightstand flipped down. So he righted it. The next day, the photo was facing down again. Later that morning, after leaving his room for breakfast, he returned and found in the middle of his bed two Beanie Babies – the zebra and the tiger – next to a conch shell, a dinosaur made of shells and a plaster toucan bird. That got his parents’ – and his twin brother, Lee’s – attention. Trying to make sense of the irrational, Al called out, ‘Do we have a Casper here? Tell me your name and how old you are.’ Then he left some lined composition paper and crayons and, with his family, walked out of the room. In 15 minutes they returned and found written vertically in large block childlike letters, ‘Danny, 7.’”
With his family out of the house, Al Cobb decided to continue trying to communicate with the spirit of Danny. With the same kind of notes, Danny indicated that his mother had died in that bed in 1899, and that he wanted to stay with the bed. He also made it clear that he didn’t want anyone else sleeping in it. “The same day they found a note reading, ‘No one sleep in bed,’ Jason, who had moved out of the room, decided to stretch out and pretend to take a nap. That, says Al, was a mistake. ‘I doubled back in the room to pick up my clothes,’ remembers Jason, ‘when this terra cotta head that had been hanging on the wall came flying through the room, just missing me before it smashed on the closet door.’”
“No one really knows,” Fishman writes in her second installment, “who – or what – is leaving the copious notes, moving the furniture, opening the kitchen drawers, setting the dining room table, flipping over the chairs, lighting the candles, arranging the posters to spell out a person’s name, Jill, then hanging the finished product on a bedroom wall. Jason also spoke of other spirits: ‘Uncle Sam,’ who had come to reclaim his daughter he said was buried under the house; ‘Gracie,’ a young girl whose sculpture sits in Bonaventure Cemetery; and ‘Jill,’ a young woman who left a number of handwritten messages, among them one inviting the Cobbs to a party in their living room.”
Parapsychologist Andrew Nichols, head of the Florida Society for Parapsychological Research, investigated the case. “What happened at the Cobbs,” he told Fishman, “– more specifically to Jason – would have happened without ‘Danny,’ or the bed. It was the electromagnetic energy of the wall – that Jason started sleeping next to when they moved the bed there – that charged a psychic ability that the boy already had.”

The Origin of The Modern Voodoo Doll
MardigrasWizard.com-- Mysterious and provocative, the foremost reigning icon of African derived religions in the minds of the Western world is the Voodoo doll. Images of ugly pin-sticking dolls used for hexing your neighbor and summoning evil spirits, satanic evil-doers engaging in bloody sacrifices, brain-eating zombies, rock music and drugs, sexual promiscuity and homosexuality, the occult, Voodoo, and demonism--they all go together in the minds of the general public, thanks to Hollywood and sensational novels. Very few things have the potential to create as much fear, panic, and paranoia as the discovery of a Voodoo doll lying on the front steps of home sweet home. But how threatening can a doll be? Using a Voodoo doll is not like holding a gun to someone’s head, after all. On the other hand, Voodoo dolls are quite possibly worse, because to the uninformed they symbolize a war waged against your very soul. And, how can you defend yourself against that?
Using dolls and effigies in sympathetic magic rituals is as old as humankind. More often than not, ritual dolls and effigies were used for healing, fertility, and empowerment. In some cultures such as ancient Greece, they were used to bind enemies. European poppets were widely used in folk magic and witchcraft to curse an enemy. Other types of dolls were used in harvest customs and burial rites, made as talismans, or used as teaching aids for children.
In New Orleans, Voodoo dolls are largely sold as souvenirs, curios, and novelty items. For the most part, people who purchase a Voodoo doll will keep it around as a warm and fuzzy reminder of New Orleans, the Land of Voodoo.
So how did we get from objects of empowerment, spirituality, and souvenir to evil minions of hell? To answer this question requires a brief jaunt into the sociopolitical history of our country. And that is exactly what author Denise Alvarado does in her fascinating new book, "Voodoo Dolls in Magick and Ritual."
Voodoo dolls are perhaps the most misunderstood icon of any religion. According to the author, the prevailing negative stereotypes are as much the result of racism as slavery is.
For the first time anywhere, explore the history, mystery, & magick of Voodoo Dolls in this fascinating new book. Tracing the Voodoo doll’s roots back in time, this book provides a fascinating account of the most provocative and mystifying icon of the African-derived healing tradition of Creole Voodoo. The author explains the multicultural history of the Voodoo doll, dispels stereotypes and myths, while at the same time showing the reader how to make and use Voodoo dolls to enhance everyday life. Learn how to make three kinds of Voodoo dolls, find over 40 spells and rituals to find love, attract wealth, offer protection, and promote healing and happiness. The book is richly illustrated with the artwork of the author, whose work was recently featured on National Geographic's Taboo.
