When I looked into the circle my first thoughts were that it was a mess. I was mistaken as on closer inspection of the lay the pattern was actually quite fascinating and well done. There were ‘stripes’ going from one end to the other and the direction of the lay alternated with each stripe. The distance between each stripe varied and was not consistent. Sometimes it is about 1.5m – 2.0 m, sometimes more. Between each stripe were the ‘chevrons’. These too, alternatively changed direction going across the circle. The overall effect was an intriguing weaving pattern.

Drug dealers involved in human sacrifices

BRIDGEPORT CN -- A skull found in a Madison Avenue basement where a reputed drug gang conducted sacrificial rituals belonged to a human being, police said.

The chief medical examiners' office made the determination Wednesday afternoon, according to Det. Keith Bryant.

Now Bryant said an anthropological exam is underway to determine the sex and age of the skull as well as possibly when the person died.

"Our investigation is continuing," Bryant said. "Additional charges could be forthcoming."

A headless body was found in Bridgeport about a decade ago, according to police. Whether the skull found is connected to that body has not been determined, Bryant said.

Five people are under arrest on marijuana trafficking following the early morning raid and grisly discovery by members of the department's Tactical and Narcotics Team.

Police served a search and seizure warrant on the occupants of the first-floor apartment expecting to seize the normal paraphernalia of drug traffickers.

But when they entered the basement, TNT Sgt. William Bailey said they encountered a scene more common in horror movies than homes across the street from an elementary school.

"There was blood all over the basement walls," he said. The type of blood is being analyzed by investigators, Bryant said.

Photographs of the scene were taken by the detective bureau but are not being made available.

Bailey said the human skull had an alligator skull atop it and either a sheep's or goat's skull underneath it. There were strings of beads hanging, candles burning, animal horns standing and what appeared to be Satanic writings. There was a beheaded chicken, with its blood emptying into a bowl.

Occult Profiles: Police Officer James Myers

After patrolling Bridgeport for 11 years, Police Officer James Myers has found another calling: the spiritual realm.

Break-ins at the downtown complex of the shuttered Savoy Hotel and the Poli Palace/Majestic theaters got him inside the rundown buildings, where he took photos, an old hobby for the 38-year-old father of three.

But these photos were different from other abandoned buildings he's shot.

"Things started to show up on my camera," he said.

Not just anything: orbs, which indicate the presence of spiritual energy. And lots them.

Then a chance meeting in Bridgeport Hospital with famed psychic and Monroe resident Lorraine Warren set him on the path to becoming a paranormal researcher. While working there, he heard Warren, 81, was a patient and approached her. She knew his name before he introduced himself.

As Myers recalled: "She said, 'Jimmy, how are you?'"

Since then, in his spare time, Myers has been assisting Warren and her son-in-law, Tony Spera, with investigations for the A&E network's show "Paranormal State." He helps interview people and collect data with recording equipment.

Paranormal Investigation Equipment Checklist

Do you want to conduct your own paranormal investigation? If so you probably want a good list of devices used by some of the top paranormal teams out there. Most of these items can be purchased at the top supermarkets or from a lot of online retailers.

1. Good Digital Video Camera - A good camera that has heat detection (thermal) as a setting. Often at times ghosts will draw the energy around from the place they are in changing and dropping the temp allowing it to show on a thermal camera.

2. Good Digital Sound Recorder - This is for EVP (electronic voice phenomena) work. Sounds that you will not hear during the investigation but after analysis will be heard. This device backs up the evidence of the Camera work.

3. EMF Detector - An EMF (Electro Magnetic Field) detector will help pick up EMF fields produced by large amounts of electricity. It is believed that getting large EMF readings where no electricity is present indicates a paranormal event is starting to happen. An excellent tool for finding the activity in a house. This is a common hardware item.

4. Digital Temperature Checker - These are a good backup on thermal camera and EMF work when you find what is referred to as Paranormal cold spots. Areas which drop in temperature rapidly can indicate a spirit trying to manifest itself to the investigator. This Checker can add extra evidence to this observation especially when it drops dramatically.
