Occult Profiles: Detective Amy Godoy

The coffin had been dug up and pried open, and a corpse, headless, sat against the tombstone. Arrayed around it: small gourd bowls, a severed rooster's head and a cow's tongue, nailed to a tree.

Time to call in Amy Godoy -- the "Occult Cop".

Godoy, a Miami-Dade (Fla.) county detective, walks a beat on the dark side; it is her job to investigate crimes committed during rituals some would find bizarre, or at the very least exotic.

Imagine agents Mulder and Scully from TV's "The X-Files," rolled into one. Godoy is skeptical but open to the extraordinary.

"I don't care how you cut up the religious and spiritual aspects of your life. ... What I am concerned is if you do break the law," Godoy said. "That's where I come in."

Mongolian Death Worm

"Braving violent sandstorms akin to fog with an attitude problem, tent-shredding twisters that blast men off their feet, and an ice river that caves in as their vehicles are crossing, the four men continue on their journey. Their thoughts are haunted by the creature they are tracking, a legendary beast said to be capable of spitting lethal corrosive venom, or killing from a distance with an electrical discharge. This was the quest to find the truth about the Mongolian Death Worm."

In the videotaped interview, Jacks said the girls stopped being her daughters and took on the identities of the demons. "They got so bad," she said.

She said her eldest daughter, Brittany, was possessed by a demon she called "Jezebel," a prostitute who caused suffering and spread disease. "With demon possession, you are a demon, period," Jacks says on the recording.

The Cult of Holy Death

Time.com
is reporting that the Catholic Church is denouncing The Santa Murete as a Satanic Cult.

La Santisima Muerte is a "banned saint," the Roman Catholic "cover" for an ancient Aztec goddess named Mictecacihuatl, a death goddess and co-ruler, with her husband, of the underworld.
In the days just before Easter, the Mexican government bulldozed nearly 40 shrines to La Santisima Muerte (Holy Death) along the U.S./Mexico border. The shrines, according to the military, formed an integral part of the "narco-culture" that the government is determined to wipe out. Does devotion to Santa Muerte reflect the "death cult of the drug lords," as Kevin Freese of U.S. military intelligence suggests?
